I dreamed I was living back in the home where I lived with my stepmom and dad. This was not a good home. But in this dream I didn’t know the home. It’s just when I woke I realized it was the home I lived in as a kid. In order to afford living there, I was getting roommates. We were deciding which rooms everyone would get. I had always been nervous of roommates with my kitties, because I wanted be sure they’d be nice to them and wouldn’t let them out. These roommates were being good with my kitties. That was a relief. It was a bit of an ordeal trying to figure out what room I should take. There was a kitchen, den, and living room, 3 bedrooms, and a basement area (and the basement area didn’t exist in real life. In fact, the home shifted and changed how it looked so it wasn’t always that home I lived in). At first I was going to live in the den area. I thought it may be nice to be a part of everything. Then I realized a little privacy would be nice and I could watch after my kitties best with doors that would close and all. The problem was that everyone that was going to live was already deciding on their rooms. Then a woman stoped by who saw the ad and also wanted to rent a room. I told her that I want sure that there were any rooms left. She became upset with me. I felt bad, but also there wasn’t much I could do. I mentioned waiting to see if we could find room for her. I said we were still working out where we would all stay, but she was still upset and said she wanted no part of it. Though she still seemed to be hanging out to see. I walked down to the basement. I realized it was more spacious than I originally realized. I imagined it may be perfect for me and my kitties. Later it started vibrating down there. I realized that we had a computer server down there and for some odd reason in my dream computer servers rattled sometimes. Idk why we’d have had our own computer server, but I kind of thought it was neat. But the basement was no longer an option. So I went back upstairs and gathered everyone. I said we’d need to choose rooms. I realized that there was a baby room too. So there was 1 master bedroom, 2 regular bedrooms, and a smaller baby room, plus the den if someone wanted to set up their bedroom there. I said whoever choose the baby room could pay $20 less and whoever choose the master bedroom could pay $20 more since it had its own bathroom. We were then all deciding. I felt like one of the regular bedrooms would work well for me and my kitties.
Your dream appears to blend elements of your past, present, and inner emotions in a complex narrative. Here's a detailed interpretation:
Home Setting: Returning to your childhood home, even if it felt unfamiliar in the dream, suggests that you're working through memories or unresolved emotions linked to your past. Living with your stepmom and dad seems to have been a significant part of your childhood, which might still influence you today. Seeing it in your dream indicates you may be revisiting past experiences or emotions related to that period.
Roommates and Kitties: Your strong desire to ensure that roommates would be kind and considerate to your kitties reflects a deep need for security and care - both for your pets and yourself. Pets often represent aspects of your inner emotional life, and your concern for their safety might signify a need to protect your own emotional well-being.
Choosing a Room: The act of deciding which room to occupy reveals your process of defining personal boundaries and spaces. Initially wanting to be a part of everything in the den, and then realizing the need for privacy, might indicate your real-life need to balance social interactions with personal solitude. The changing nature of the house also highlights a fluidity in your decision-making process or your life's circumstances.
Dealing with the Woman for a Room: Your interaction with the woman interested in a room may symbolize anxiety around negotiating needs and desires in relationships. Her upset reaction and your feeling of helplessness may reflect fears of conflict or displeasing others when making personal decisions.
The Basement and Server: Descending to the basement represents delving into your subconscious. The space's initial appeal suggests potential or unexplored parts of yourself. The presence of a computer server could symbolize processing information or connectivity, and the rattling might indicate underlying stress or tension in this process. This disruption in the basement's appeal forces you to reassess your choices, mirroring a need to adapt and reconsider plans in waking life.
Room Rates and Layouts: Your solution to room allocation with varying rates and preferences shows your ability to find equitable solutions. It suggests a strive for fairness and balance in shared environments, potentially related to work or personal life decisions.
Choosing a regular bedroom for you and your kitties at the end reflects a return to familiar territory. It shows that despite life's uncertainties or the pressures of making the right choices, you find comfort in what feels safe and nurturing.
In summary, your dream might be your mind's way of processing feelings around stability, personal boundaries, and decision-making, with the interplay of past experiences and present worries influencing these elements.
